Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow has credited Barisan Nasional (BN) for bolstering political stability at federal and state levels, highlighting the importance of collaboration between Pakatan Harapan (PH) and BN in ensuring effective governance and progress.
Speaking at the Penang MIC Deepavali open house, Chow thanked BN and its component parties, including MIC, for their support during the 2023 state election. He praised their partnership, which he said has been instrumental in advancing the administration’s development goals.
“Political stability is crucial for meaningful progress,” Chow remarked, emphasizing how the PH-BN alliance has driven growth and improved public confidence under Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s leadership. He also commended Musa Sheikh Fadzir, Penang BN chief, for fostering strong ties between the coalitions.
The PH-BN partnership secured 29 out of 40 state assembly seats in the election, with DAP winning all 19 it contested and BN claiming two. Chow highlighted the importance of maintaining this unity ahead of the next general election.
The event, marking the first MIC Deepavali celebration in 15 years, also celebrated Chow’s 65th birthday, with a special garland presentation by state MIC chief J Dhinagaran. Former Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng’s presence further underscored the coalition's spirit of camaraderie.
